Illustration Friday ~ Theory

Hooray for me! I've finished and illustration in time for the Friday deadline :)

I immediately thought of music theory when the theme was announced. Studying theory as a kid, I often felt like this guy trying to put notes together on a page - it was often tedious and painful. Eventually I did appreciate it, but I always preferred to play the music rather than write it out!

I love how the pen strokes create movement, yet his eyes are so still. Very nice!

beautiful, i love the expresion, it really seems like what he wants to be doing is just playing the piano instead of having the pen and paper. Kudos for you

For me, it's the musical notes falling off the page. It denotes (pun intended) the want for connection, for the song to be absorbed without effort. The person in the drawing, to me at least, seems to be longing for the end result, not the toil that is required to get there.

Music theory is greek to me, and so you've confirmed that it is not a pleasant job. Yet I appreciate the outcome and your sylistic description.

I love your use of line in this piece. You've captured the liveliness and sense of movement that music can evoke.

Okay, firstly, I can't believe you're managing to get these amazing drawings done each week (super-woman).

Secondly, This is fantastic. There's so much detail in there, it really keeps your attention. The keys are my favourite part. This could be a CD cover. And the notes sliding off the paper are gorgeous... like they don't want to be being written either - they'd prefer to be playing too.

Thirdly, something about him reminds me of an awesome Australian rock legend (at least to me), Tim Rogers.

Thanks Flossy-p! But I'm no super-woman...you should see my house! LOL. And he totally looks like Tim Roger. That's awesome! Thanks for pointing it out.

Theory, what a difficult subject to draw! Love all the line work, especially love the notes falling out from the paper (stunning)!
